    • I hear ya, Bob.

I ate ten rolls of Lifesavers a day for many years.

I thought they weren’t doing anything for me…until the doctor told me I was diabetic. :/

      But I haven’t lost hope…thanks to Karl Malone…

We still love Karl Malone here in Utah.

Btw, whaddya say we START some Forrest Fires? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Not forest fires. I saw what happened at Viveash Ranch…and that was very sad.

  1. Well, yes Bob I would enjoy seeing your photo of the chest at the mckracken library. Please post it here for the A team!

    bob:
hi Anna, yes i do keep up with scrapbooks at Dals blog. Dal is great isnt he?

like you ive stopped looking for clues too. as you probably already know, im quite sure that the โ€œchestโ€ spoken of in the poem lies at the feet of Harold McCracken at the Draper Museum of Natural History in Cody Wyoming in an archeology display. i can email you a photo if you like.

  2. I used to think that grumpy old men were grumpy because of the world around them. Living in an ever changing environment they cant keep up with and dont care to, frustrated. Now that im getting older myself i realize that is not the case. Grumpy old men are grumpy because they are not happy with themselves. And they take it out on everyone around them. Cant hear, cant see, cant relate. This revelation came to me at lunch with my daughter. I couldnt hear the waitress, couldnt read the menu as i forgot to bring my reading glasses. they all tell me to get a hearing aid. Those things are expensive! Why cant they just talk louder, thats free. Why do they print menus with such small size words? they could do away with the pictures of food and use larger type. I know what a cheeseburger looks like for crying out loud. besides, the one they bring you to eat doesnt look like the one in the menu. I really get tired of telling people to speak up and find myself just ignoring them now. so I dont even try to understand what they said. Ive learned to order the same thing every time i go to certain restaraunts … i have it memorized.
Wendy’s is a #2 combo and large drink
McDonalds is a #3 combo and large drink
Burger King is a #1 combo with cheese and onion rings large drink
Taco Bell is #3 combo crunchy sour cream and a large drink

if they ask me any more questions, i just say no. this technique helps eliminate the grumpy syndrome, everyone is happy. I still have a little trouble communicating with my daughter though. there are no standard answers for her. She’s talking about taking me to Planned Parethood to be youthanized, almost in a threatning manner.

    im excited.

    • Bob, I understand your frustration. Getting old may have the benefit of wisdom learned by experience – but that’s about it. I’m slightly past middle-age but need readers to zip a jacket or see food on my plate in correct depth perception. My hearing is already impaired and I do not look forward to that progression or i coping with silence. I very much admire Forrest Fenn for staying active, relevant, and interested in the world around him. He’s found a very unique way to interact with his surroundings and the world.

      • Anna- thanks for the reply and speaking of Forrest im leaning heavily lately into a statement he writes in the preface of TTOTC….. a “penchant for provication”….hmmmm. he doesnt seem the intiminatible type, or is he? who bends words. just maybe we really dont know this man. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • hi Anna.

intiminable: noun. a rare quality found in persons having a desire for testing to elicit a particular response and or action. *

            *see: intimidate

        • Thanks Bob. That’s another new word for me. (Figured it may be a derivative of intimidate)

Have you been keeping up with f’s new scrapbooks at dales site? I enjoy Forrest’s stories and wisdom found therein…but no longer even trying to figure clues. For all I know he owns a gin distillery with orchards and placed his chest at a big E or W or A or C or F orD.

Hi JC1117 – loved your “never give up” cartoon.

    • I’m with you, Bob.

I’ve lost a heapin’ helpin’ of my youthful vigor as well.

I could also use a good youthanization. (sp?)

But I woulda figured you’d get that kind of service at a day spa or sumthin’.

I could really use that…a good youthanization…and a mud bath…with cucumber slices over my eyes.

      • hey JC! long time no read….yeah, im just makin this up as i go, youthanize…intiminable…i made those up for fun. of course the correct word is euthanize for my story but hey if my daughter has made an appointment for me at Planned Parenthood id rather be youthanized than euthanized. wouldnt you? ha ha. speaking of youth, JC did you know that Ponce De Leon wasnt actually looking for the so called- “fountain of youth”? there is no such thing and in fact in Portugal where Ponce was from and, in all of europe in fact there were no aged folks who were miraculously transformed into younger people by bathing in any fountain or drinking magic water. no. in fact “fountain of youth” is a misinterpretation for young waters. so, JC what Ponce was actually searching for was the place on earth where all waters come from, or are “born”. imagine finding such a place and then claming the spot for Portugal…they could have ruled the world by controlling all water.
